Nathan Sherwood

(PT, DPT, OCS, CSCS)

Physical Therapist – IPA Manhattan

Nathan has been fascinated with the structure, function, and adaptability of the human body since he was a child. Initially aspiring to be a comic book artist, he studied anatomy to more accurately illustrate the human body in movement. Exploring the arts as an actor, dancer, musician, and martial artist he learned how the body could be refined to perform at a higher level. He also learned about the body’s resiliency and ability to recover after sustaining injuries from being hit by a car as a teenager.

After a time pursuing a profession in the performing arts, he earned his A.S. in exercise science from Kingsborough Community College and then his B.S. in sports science from Long Island University. He went through the performance mentorship program of renowned strength coach Mike Boyle and has earned numerous advanced training certifications. Nathan worked as a personal trainer for the better part of a decade before later returning to LIU to earn his doctorate in physical therapy in 2020.

Nathan has diligently pursued therapeutic mastery through focused patient care, continuing education, and multi-dicipline mentorship. He has been practicing vestibular rehabilitation since 2021, receiving his initial training under a member of the Hospital for Special Surgery’s concussion team. He also became a board-certified Orthopedic Clinical Specialist in 2023. He has been undergoing rigorous training in Functional Manual Therapy since taking his first course in the approach in 2018. He will be sitting for CFMT certification in 2026.

When outside the clinic, Nathan enjoys time with his wife and children, cooking, playing music, traveling, and keeping fit.
